The History of Monika Mazurczyk, Attorney at Law
I spent 10 years between my undergraduate education and law school singing up and down the Jersey Shore with the Blue Hill Troupe, a musical theater group whose profits went to charity. My acting experience helps me as a lawyer. Acting and practicing law both involve communicating someone else's story effectively to an audience. As a lawyer, my audience is the judge, the jury and the other party's attorneys. I tell my clients' stories effectively.
When I was singing with the Blue Hill Troupe, many of the lawyers who sang with us after hours told me I should become a lawyer because I was articulate, a good problem solver, and I was good at helping people solve conflicts. After 20 years of practicing law, these are still the skills I emphasize as a lawyer.
After becoming an attorney, I spent many years working with the District Counsel 37's Municipal Employees Legal Services Plan handling emergency Chapter 7 bankruptcies and Chapter 13 bankruptcies.
